marriage

We at the Bible Church of Little Rock believe that God created human beings in His own image, and that He wonderfully and absolutely creates each person. In His plan He has given two distinct and complementary biological sexes, male and female, which together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). It is these two biological sexes that we believe Scripture indicates can be joined in the covenant of marriage. We believe God, not man, created marriage with the purpose of creating families as they are described on the pages of Scripture. We believe the Bible teaches that the covenant of marriage is sacred and lifelong. In Gen. 2:24, the passage emphasizes the complete identification of the two sexes in marriage. It also tells us that God instituted marriage and that it is to be an exclusive union of the two persons, one biological male and one biological female. Jesus added that it is to be permanent and in Mark 10:7-9, verse 9 specifically says, what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate (See BCLR’s position on divorce and remarriage).
We at the Bible Church of Little Rock believe that the Bible gives us God’s design for marriage. We believe God created marriage for the purpose of one man and one woman glorifying God as one flesh, parenting godly children (if the Lord gives them), and enjoying one another with physical intimacy. He (God) has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant union between one biological male and one biological female for life, these individuals are and have been male and female from birth. Further, the leadership (Pastors, Elders, Deacons) and the staff of the Bible church shall only participate in weddings and solemnized marriages between one biological male and one biological female for life. Finally, the facilities and property of The Bible Church of Little Rock shall only host weddings between one biological male (from birth) and one biological female (from birth) for life.
This statement does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. We believe that the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the very Word of God. It therefore speaks with supreme and final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, and is the sole and final source of all we believe and practice – it gives us all things pertaining to life and Godliness (2 Peter 1:2-3).

Scriptural confirmation:
Genesis 1:26-27, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Genesis 2:18-25, Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
Hebrews 13:4, Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Romans 1:26-27, For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
Ephesians 5:31, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
1 Corinthians 7:1-4, Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
Mark 10:6-9, “But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and the two shall become one flesh, so they are no longer two, but one flesh. “What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
