Distinctives of BCLR
The revelation of God for which we must give an account.
How We pursue truth:
Expository Preaching - We have an uncompromising conviction that the Bible is God's inerrant revelation of Truth. So, we emphasize verse-by-verse expository preaching from the pulpit each Sunday. As a result, you encounter the pure gospel and the true Christ - the only way to God. You are not being taught the fickle ideas of men but the unchanging revelation of God.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)

Equipping the Saints - We are dedicated to equipping the saints through the proclamation of the Word of God by:
As a result, you and your family will grow in righteousness as you are transformed by the renewing of your mind.. Your family will be trained to think biblically about themselves, life and the world around them.
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. - Ephesians 4:11-13 (ESV)
- Preaching expository, verse-by-verse sermons during Sunday morning worship

Biblical Church Leadership - We have a commitment to govern the church on the basis of Scriptural directives. Therefore, we are led by a plurality of Biblically-qualified elders. As a result, you can trust that leadership decisions are not driven by the ideas of any man but by the application of Scripture.
The active pursuit of another's ultimate good, especially at personal sacrifice.
How We demonstrate love:
Active Shepherding - Scripture tells us that elders must give an account for those in their care. As a result, we ensure that each member of BCLR is chosen by an elder to provide spiritual help and guidance. As a result, you have a wise and trusted advisor to turn to when facing life’s difficulties.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. – Hebrews 13:17 (ESV)

Application of Scripture - We place an emphasis on the practical application of Scripture by including application points in every teaching opportunity. We also structure our Care Group ministry to encourage application. As a result, you begin to live differently as you apply God’s truth to your everyday decisions.
Deep Relationships - We encourage deep relationships that move past the superficial by:
- structuring our Care Group ministry to promote real conversations that encourage one another to live by the principles of God’s Word and provide comfort and hope from His promises.
- offering many fellowship opportunities and venues that provide time to build deep spiritual friendships
Free Biblical Counseling - We are convicted that Scripture offers all that we need for life and godliness. Therefore, we offer free Biblical Counseling for our members and the community from qualified, trained Biblical counselors. As a result, you have help finding timeless answers to work through the issues of life.
High View of Families - We hold a high view of God’s design for and calling on families, therefore we structure our men’s, women’s and children’s ministries to equip families to grow in holiness individually and together as a family. As a result, your marriage is strengthened by understanding God’s design and how to build true oneness. Further, your family is strengthened as parents are equipped to teach their children.
Our Mission is to Make Disciples who Make Disciples
How We Pursue Our Mission:
Every Member a Minister - We believe that every Christian is called by their Lord to Make Disciples who Make Disciples. Therefore, we encourage every member to engage in the disciple-making mission through one of our local outreach opportunities or in their own sphere of influence. As a result, you have many opportunities to invest your time, talent and treasure in the work of the Great Commission, thus storing up treasure in Heaven.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. – Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)

International Missions - Desiring to make disciples among the nations and believing that the church is God’s plan for the spread of the gospel, we have developed a strategy for international missions that focuses our efforts on the work of training pastors and planting churches. As a result, you can know that your missions giving is supporting work that has been chosen to be most strategic.
Local Outreach - We desire all members to be making disciples so we provide many outreaches that offer discipleship opportunities in various contexts. These include ministries to:
- international students
- youth in juvenile detention
- women in a crisis pregnancy
- medical students
- inner city youth
- elderly or disabled in a nursing facility
How We Seek to Bring Glory to God:
High View of God - We believe and teach the absolute sovereignty of God in all things rather than the independence and strength of man. This provides security and encouragement to us because it means that we can trust God to fulfill His promises to us.
God-Centered Mindset - We believe that it is the purpose of every person to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. As a result, we seek to keep God at the center of everything we do and to view ourselves biblically as both sinners and saints rather than trying to build up our self-esteem. This helps you to keep things in their proper order and to better fulfill the purpose for which you were created.
God-Centered Worship - Our Worship Ministry seeks to glorify God for who He truly is by using diverse musical styles that are focused on proclaiming deep truths. We employ the gifts available in the body to worship God with excellence through our choir, orchestra, and other musical expressions. As a result, you are taught, encouraged, and challenged by the songs used in corporate worship and, if you are musically gifted, you have the chance to put your own gifts to use in music that magnifies the name of Jesus Christ.
