How does our use of technology reveal/relate to the desires of our heart? Technology serves the purpose we give it, whether for good or for evil. As we are constantly exposed to technology, we cannot avoid accountability for how we are using it. Are we, as Christians made in God’s image, learning to make technology serve our purposes to God’s glory, or are we allowing ourselves to be re-shaped into its image?

Suffering has been a feature of life since sin entered the world. Christians are not exempt, though we often are tempted to wish we were. However, Scripture calls Christians both to expect and to rejoice in their sufferings because of the hope they ultimately produce rather than avoiding them at all costs.

We live in a world marked by a devotion to self rather than to God, and the results are speaking for themselves. Meanwhile, Scripture calls God’s people to keep themselves in the love of God (Jude 21).

Ever since Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden into a world subjected to futility, everyone has experienced anxiety, fear, and worry to greater or lesser degrees. God’s word has much to say about these things, and we all need to hear them. The Bible recognizes that not fearing is easier said than done. If we are going to respond rightly to anxiety, fear, and worry in ourselves and others, we need the kind of help and hope that God promises in His word, by His Spirit, and through his people.

One of this generation’s challenges is to be marked by a focused faith rather than constant distraction. Today’s technology brings the world’s information to our fingertips. It also enables relationships of an unprecedented variety of number, depth and quality. There have never been more avenues to success or more definitions of it. The same goes for pleasure and “the good life”.

God’s eternal word stands behind and above the fray, eternal and sure, revealing to all of us how to avoid lives filled with useless information, shallow and uneven relationships, passing pleasure, and vain success. Will this generation deepen its faith by disciplined focus on what’s most important, or will it follow the path of constant and Christless distraction the world is paving?

One of the unique aspects for the next generation of the local church is human sexuality. Students are hearing that maleness and femaleness is only in the mind, morality is limited to consent and no one has the right to judge anyone. These ideas reject the goodness and reality of God’s design, the true nature of virtue and the coming judgment of Christ Jesus. If we do not share with the upcoming generation what the Bible has to say about sexuality, they may never properly understand the good news of Jesus Christ and God’s call for all people to repent and call upon God to be saved from their sin to a right relationship with their Creator.
